on what do u addict?

pola hidup seseorang (baca: masyarakat) terbentuk tak pernah lepas dari cara berpikir, keyakinan yang dianut, lingkungan yang membentuk, wawasan, dan budaya yang melekat pada dirinya. namun tak semudah itu menilai perilaku berdasarkan hal-hal tersebut. kompleksitas kebutuhan, perkembangan zaman, perubahan nilai-nilai dalam masyarakat juga bisa menjadi penyebab perilaku yang berbeda bahkan menyimpang.

salah satunya adalah adiksi atau biasa disebut kecanduan atau ketagihan. adiksi atau kecanduan seringkali menjadi masalah…benarkah demikian?

adiksi sendiri lebih sering dikonotasikan negatif. cobalah anda search di mesin pencari (google, yahoo, msn, etc) di halaman berbahasa Indonesia tentang kata ‘adiksi’. seberapa banyak kata ini dikonotasikan positif?

well, bagaimana jika kata tersebut diganti dengan hobi atau kebiasaan? jika merunut bahwa perilaku adiksi awal mulanya adalah kebiasaan dan hobi… bedanya hanya terletak di tingkat ke’extreme’an perilaku tersebut. Mari kita lihat secara terminologi perbedaan hobi, kebiasaan dan adiksi atau kecanduan dalam bahasa Indonesia

secara jelas dalam situs ensiklopedia ini mengkonotasikan bahwa hobi lebih bernilai positif, kebiasaan bias budaya, dan adiksi merupakan hal yang negatif. let see, its definition in English…which is more details and enrich our insight in psychological term. even one case could covers in this three behaviours, ex: smoking

menurut Smitha V dalam artikelnya berjudul Addiction, perilaku addiction ini terbagi pada dua hal substance (zat, bahan) ex: rokok, alkohol, makanan, narkoba, dll… ataukah activity (kegiatan, aktivitas) ex: judi, ketagihan seks, kleptomania, boros (keuangan), dll

Smitha juga menjelaskan :
” There is a broad range of price and benefits for addictions. The addiction is negative if, for that individual, the price outweighs the pleasure and benefits”

so, ketika benefit dan pleasure lebih daripada price maka adiksi itu dapat disebut positive addiction… so, how to determine…whether ur addiction is positive?

Smitha V, gives some suggestion….

For the first list, start in a general way: What is it that I like about this substance or activity? What does it do for me? What am I afraid my life would be like if I did not engage in this behavior?

Now get more specific (to make sure you have not missed any benefits and pleasures):

1. What bad feelings or moods does this behavior help me cope with (e.g., frustration, resentment, anger, irritability, fear, boredom, depression, anxiety, tension, loneliness, stress, anxiety, sadness, etc.)? How does it help me cope with them?

2. What positive feelings or moods does this behavior make even better? What situations does this behavior enhance?

3. How painful would withdrawal (from this substance) be?

4. To what extent does this behavior ease or reduce physical pain?

5. How concerned am I about experiencing urges or cravings? How much do they scare me?

6. How often and how much do I like to test my control of this behavior (see how close I can come to the “edge” without slipping over)?

7. How often and how much do I like to test my capacity for this behavior (e.g., see how much I can drink)?

8. How much do I enjoy the high? What exactly about the high is satisfying?

9. How much does this behavior help me socialize and fit in with others?

10. How much do I seem to need this behavior in order to feel normal? What does feeling normal mean to me?

11. How often do I use this behavior to help me cope with conflicts with others?

the benefits and pleasures that pointed in this matter not only you as individually but also as social human being.

begitu banyak bentuk perilaku adiksi saat ini yang mengikuti perkembangan zaman, ex: adiksi komputer, adiksi pada karir, adiksi popularitas, adiksi games, dll

so, on what do u addict?
